PCTG is an impact-resistant copolyester gaining popularity as a tougher alternative to PETG. It offers excellent interlayer adhesion, a ductile failure mode, and very low warping tendency.
Properties
- Impact Resistance — Significantly tougher than PETG, ductile rather than brittle failure
- Interlayer Adhesion — Outstanding layer bonding for strong functional parts
- Low Warping — Prints flat with minimal curling, even without an enclosure
- Transparency — Available in clear and translucent colors with good optical clarity
- Chemical Resistance — Good resistance to common household chemicals
Best Practices
- Print at 240-250°C for optimal interlayer adhesion
- Heated bed at 65-75°C with PEI or glass surface
- Part cooling fan at 50-80% for best surface finish
- No enclosure needed, but consistent ambient temperature helps
- Dries quickly if exposed to moisture — 60°C for 4 hours
- Reduce retraction compared to PETG to maintain good flow
